Mindy Shrago is a ceramicist based in Miami, Florida and New York City. She is the Co-Founder of Young At Art Museum. Her work explores the alteration of subject matter; images are removed from their natural state and redefined by integrating flat landscapes with relief imagery. By doing so, a visual metamorphosis occurs - the representation becomes alive and is released from the picture plane. This redefinition of space and time creates a sense of freedom and an escape from reality.
Shrago has exhibited her work throughout the country including recent exhibitions at The Art and Culture Center (Hollywood), Wayfarers (New York City), The Projects (FAT Village, Ft.Lauderdale). Her work can be found in the permanent collections of Purdue University Galleries (West Lafayette, Indiana), Museum of Art (Ft. Lauderdale), Norton Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institution, Renwick Gallery, Miami Design and Preservation League, Mitchell Wolfson Collection (Miami), Howard Johnson Corporation (New York), Richard Shack Collection (Miami), Andy Warhol Collection (New York), Duane Hanson Collection.
